Up for a Workers Debate-Industrial Revolution

1) Time for A Debate!!! Are you ready!

2) Review of Children and Factory Labor--- did you view any primary sources? 

3) Primary and Secondary Sources: (review what you know)  

     a. Define primary sources- first hand account information 

 

     b. Give at least 5 specific examples of primary sources

 

     c. Define secondary source

 

     d. Give at least 5 examples of secondary sources

4) You are going to have is have a small debate with your partner!

 

5) Use what you have learned so far this week and use the other links below to help build your argument.  Out of the two partners, one will be a factory/ coal mine worker and the other partner will be a factory or coal mine owner. (Notice the difference between each role you and your partner will play.) 

 

6) Picking Partners

 

     a. Once you have decided which role you will be, you will then beginning to research about the Industrial Revolution.

 

     b. The debate is: You and your partner are opposing sides. The factory/ coal mine owner is supporting having factories and making workers work long hours in hazardous conditions.  The other role, factory/ coal mine workers are supporting to have better working conditions and/or go back to working in cottage industries.
